Reviving my childhood

Back when I was just starting primary school, we didn't have Nintendo DS, or PSP, or DVD players, or whatever to stare at first thing we get home. We had model cars to race with neighbours and friends. Perhaps to some of the younger generations, this is unknown to them, but in the 90's, there was a very popular anime called Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! It's about such model car races.

The craze for them is so big that there were countless number of accessories and parts made for them, like for real cars. Custom engines, wheels, gears, etc. There are tracks made especially for them, lap timers, machines to measure the speed, special box kits, it was unbelievable.

Anyway, one random night, I decided to do some random google-ing on the show and somehow found my way across the official Tamiya (company that makes the models) website. I didn't gave a second thought, in fact, I didn't even gave a thought before clicking the 'buy' button.

And tah! I bought one! So nostalgic!!

The box felt so small, I swear it was bigger when I bought them as a kid lol.

I can't believe it didn't come with a stock motor, they did before though.

No matter, I bought extra parts + the best motor!

I love these tires!!

Yosh! Let's begin building!

Putting on the stickers was the most annoying thing for me as a kid, and even now, they still annoy the heck out of me! they are never made to fit nicely!

Chassis and gears, see it's 4WD

Tires ready to roll!

I made the mistake of using metal washers instead of plastic ones on the wheels... AGAIN!!

The name sounds promising, but I didn't know it's THE real deal.

It's completely different design to the other motors! The cooling vents are HUGE!! This baby is totally awesome!

Aw yeah!!

Switch & battery terminal

Side rollers

We're rolling now!

Time to put on the high rollers!

The mini spanner proved to be quite useful

It's looking very sexy already! (well, it's pretty much done lol)

Time to add the heat dissipator!

Apparently it also supports the circuit because it pushes the motor forward towards the copper terminals

Everything is all set! Now, one last thing.

Lock in the cover!

This baby is ready to roll!

I can't believe how fast it is, I really need a track to check it out, I don't have anywhere else to test it.

Maximum power!!

I'll upload some more pictures if I end up testing it anywhere else (and be able to capture it on a camera at such speed).
